St. Andrews State Park in Panama City Florida is known for its sugar white sands and emerald green waters, this former military reservation has over one-and-a-half miles of beaches on the Gulf of Mexico and Grand Lagoon and is located on a peninsula at the east end of Panama City Beach. St. Andrews State Park is one of the most popular state parks in Florida, thanks in part to Dr. Beach naming it the Best Beach in America.
There is an array of outdoor activities – water sports enthusiasts enjoy swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, and canoeing. Two fishing piers, a jetty, and a boat ramp provide fishing opportunities for anglers. There are two nature trails wind through a rich diversity of coastal plant communities – an excellent chance for bird-watching. Those intent on relaxing can sunbathe on the beach and/or enjoy a leisurely lunch under the shade of a picnic pavilion. An onsite concession offers snacks, souvenirs, and fishing supplies. St. Andrews is also a Pet Friendly park so you can bring the entire family.
Snorkeling and scuba diving along the jetties is also a popular outdoor activity at the park, a variety of colorful marine life can be found beneath the water’s surface. Swimming and surfing are popular on the Gulf side of the state park, while those looking for calmer waters enjoy the “kiddie pool,” a large area along the pass, protected by the jetties. There are no lifeguards present at the state park, so visitors should always exercise caution.
St. Andrews State Park is great for campers, who can choose from 176 camp sites with electricity, water, picnic tables and grills (these can accommodate tents, or RVs up to 40 feet in length).
